Governance, funding, tax status, commercial separation, eligibility, partnerships and impact measurement — answered directly.

What is Power Up Futures Foundation?

Power Up Futures Foundation, Inc. (PUFF-USA) is a U.S.-incorporated, IRS-recognized Section 501(c)(3) public charity providing governance, philanthropy and public-benefit oversight for the ecosystem. It advances equitable access to skills, leadership, opportunity and economic participation for young people and women across Africa and the Global South.

Is the Foundation's 501(c)(3) status confirmed?

Yes. The Internal Revenue Service recognized the Foundation as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) in a December 2025 determination. EIN 39-3560214, deductibility code PC. This is independently verifiable via the IRS Tax Exempt Organization Search.

Where is the Foundation incorporated?

In the State of Delaware, United States, as a nonprofit corporation.

How is the Foundation governed?

By a Board of Directors, under written policies covering financial oversight, conflicts of interest, related-party transactions, safeguarding, records retention, annual filings and programme integrity.

What are the three flagship programmes?

FutureReady Africa 1M Voices, Power Up Women Africa, and GSTLW — the Global Secretariat for Skills, Talent, Leadership & Workforce. Each has its own dedicated site and mandate.

What are the cross-cutting capabilities?

Certification and Training Scholarships; Research, Evidence and Opportunity Intelligence; Community and Institutional Partnerships; and Inclusive Opportunity and Mobility Pathways. They are shared infrastructure serving all three flagships, not a separate programme tier.

How does the Foundation keep charitable and commercial activity separate?

Charitable activities — scholarships, research, advocacy, convenings and public-benefit programming — are conducted by PUFF-USA. Professional training, enterprise acceleration and related commercial services are delivered by affiliated partner organizations and disclosed at the point of application, enrollment, payment or assessment.

Do donations pay for commercial services?

No. Charitable contributions fund charitable programming. Fees for professional training or enterprise services are commercial payments to the delivering organization and are not tax-deductible charitable contributions.

How is the Foundation funded?

Through philanthropic grants, individual and corporate giving, institutional partnerships, and restricted funding for scholarships and research. Funding sources and restrictions are reported to the Board and disclosed in annual reporting.

Who is eligible to participate?

Youth ages 15–35, women leaders and emerging leaders, university students and graduates, MSME founders and young entrepreneurs, and underrepresented and marginalized communities, with special attention to low-income, rural and gender-excluded populations.

How do organisations become partners?

Choose one of the seven partnership categories on the Partnerships page, submit the qualification enquiry form, and the partnerships team responds with a scoping conversation. Agreed partnerships proceed to written terms covering objectives, contributions, safeguarding and reporting.

How does the Foundation report impact?

Against a published measurement framework: a 2026 baseline, a defined beneficiary definition, unique-person counting, separate direct and indirect reach, separate verified and self-reported participation, annual progress and a programme breakdown. Social-media reach, event attendance and application volumes are never counted as verified beneficiaries.

How does the Foundation describe country engagement?

Using four explicit statuses: active programme delivery, approved pilot, partnership development, and planned expansion. A country is never described as served solely because it is a target market.

Which domain is official?

powerupfutures.us is the canonical domain for the Foundation. Other domains redirect here.
